Hello I am Lana Deeter
About me:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing for 15 years with my association, serving clients in the Lower Mainland. I am a ‘Helper’ professional. I have witnessed the resilience of the human spirit but I have also seen its vulnerability. It is this experience that allows me to develop the right strategies for your particular needs.
As an educator I believe the more we learn about ourselves, psychologically, the more agreeably we can relate to others. As well we can regulate our emotions better and more effectively apply the strategies to cope with life.
I do what I do because I get a lot of personal significance through helping others solve their problems. My mother tells me I have been like this my whole life. There is nothing more satisfying than coming to a resolution that creates encouragement and a more positive vision of the future. It is like seeing a double rainbow on a rainy day – a feeling that anything is possible and life can be beautiful.
I evolved into counselling through my teaching of ill and troubled children. It led me to seek understanding of mental health and physical challenges and to develop helpful ways to lighten the load of students and their families. I continued my education to a Masters Degree in Clinical Counselling Psychology with excellent training and mentoring in Psychodynamic Theory through the teachings of Alfred Adler and Carl Jung. Consequently I set up private practice with the Delta Therapy and Counselling clinic. Currently, my office is attached to my home. Life is a meandering experience but if we enlist the support of others and we pay attention to what feeds our psychological needs then we will be our best selves. For me, Counsellor, Teacher and Parent are what I was meant to be.
